No, this has nothing to do with the island, really. And no, I haven't even registered the domain. Long story, perhaps to be told someday. But what you really want to know is what's here.

what's here

A number of papers that I have written throughout the years. Most of them were written for college classes, and focus either on Classics, English/Literature, or Linguistics. I will keep adding to the (academics) section as I migrate old material and perhaps generate some new stuff when I begin classes toward a M.A.

If you feel like subjecting yourself to mediocre writing, be my guest. Most of what you will find in the (writings) section is pretty old.

I've got pretty esoteric tastes, and tend to hoard links while I'm looking around for stuff. The (links) section now redirects you to my del.icio.us page, upon which you will find some links undergoing organization. On the bright side, they're searchable and sortable by keyword tags.

Finally, this is a work in progress, as seem to be all websites. If you want to keep up with what's going on, try and balance the changelog below with the (.plan) section.

The links up at the top of the page are persistent, and should appear at the top of every page on this site, save the blog. This will become more uniform as I chug through my .plan. Please report broken links or serious anomalies to emj[at]freeshell.org.

(9 july 2005): Nuked the blog. Migrating data over to the MangPages wiki.
(12 may 2005): Changed the colors around, installed another wiki, updated miscellaneous stuff. Still unsure what to do about existing content.
(7 may 2005): ~~Radically shrank~~ Nuked blosxom section, cleaned out links section, and moved all linkiness over to del.icio.us
(14 mar 2005): Added blog (powered by nanoblogger), removed some blog postings from blosxom, pondering using blosxom purely for infodump purposes.
(25 feb 2005): Updated all the current papers in the academics section to conform to rest of site. Added some more papers from my tenure at CU Boulder.
(24 feb 2005): Added password access and some text to the wiki. It's private, of course...
(23 feb 2005): Added a list of sites on sdf that I find interesting or useful to the links page
(19 feb 2005): Added customized 404 message to .htaccess, works for most pages (just not backlinks in papers in the academics section)
(18 feb 2005): Implemented this changelog, backdated some of the following changes, added some actual useful information to the main page. Changed "notes" section to .plan.
(11 feb 2005): Killed off the old blog, migrated all the stuff that I wanted to keep over to the new blosxom blog, wrote up a quick redirect page with information most frequently searched on old blog (thanks to Pivot's handy referrer logs).
(jan 2005): Fixed colors again, still trying to figger out what's readable and what's not. Also, playing with PHP, mostly trying to make wholesale changes quick and easy.
(jan 2005): Added link for my public key here for any and all that would like it.
(dec 2004): Discovered the joys of blosxom, and have been trying to migrate some of the stuff from the blog over to it.
